Principal Investigators

Prof. Philip Ogunbona

Prof. Philip O. Ogunbona has over 120 publications, patents and research grants in the field of image and signal processing, machine learning and computer vision. His interest in these research areas is usually towards developing mathematical models that push the frontier of knowledge for solving real-life problems. His research application areas include human action recognition, medical image and signal processing, digital watermarking and food security. Some of his recent projects are human posture recognition, crop disease recognition and classifications, and digital antennas. He is currently with the University of Wollongong, Australia, and currently serves as honorary Director-at-Large for the A2IR2.

lawrence kehinde

Prof. Lawrence O. Kehinde

Professor Lawrence Kunle Kehinde, a former Head, Engineering Dean and University Deputy Vice Chancellor, received a B.Sc 1st class Hons degree in Electronics (1971) at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Nigeria, and a D.Phil, Control Engineering (1975), at the University of Sussex UK. He had his Post Doctoral Studies in Nuclear Instrumentation at University of California, Berkeley USA (1977-1978) as an IAEA Fellow. He spent most of his years as a Professor of Instrumentation Engineering at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. He was the Rector of the first private Polytechnic in Nigeria and a former World Meteorological Organization (WMO) consultant. Some years back, he concluded a 3-year Visiting Professorship term at the Texas Southern University, Houston Texas USA. He has worked in Techno-Managerial position as the Director of ICT at OAU for years. His major field is Instrumentation Designs and has designed equipment, three of which had received British patents and a Nigerian patent. He has published over 100 academic publications. He was the founding Principal Investigator of the OAU’s iLab research and he currently designs remote and virtual experiments for remote experimentation. Although retired from his first principal educational establishment, he is currently a Contract Professor of Mechatronics Engineering at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria.
He is a Chartered Engineer, a Fellow of the Computer Professional Nigeria and a Senior Member of IEEE, ASEE and SCIREA.

Prof. Titilayo A. Kuku

Prof. Titilayo A. Kuku is a Professor of Electronic materials and devices whose interest is in the development of solid state batteries, photoelectronic devices and solid state gas sensors.

Thomas-Yesufu

Dr. Thomas K. Yesufu

He obtained a B.Eng. (Electronics and Communication Engineering) in 1987 from the University of Jos, and an M.Sc. (Electronic and Electrical Engineering) and a Ph.D (Electronic and Electrical Engineering) in 1994 and 1999, respectively, from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. He was the National Coordinator of the Cooperative Information Network (under the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology), Ile-Ife from 2004 to 2009. His research interests include signal processing and applications, radio propagation studies and applications; data science and applications, circuits and systems, design of intelligent and /or large systems, cryptography, cybernetics, satellite communication. He is a Senior Lecturer, a COREN registered Engineer, and a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He has contributed to over 45 publications in book chapters, journals, and conferences.

Dr. O.O. Ilori

Dr. Kayode P. Ayodele

Dr. Ayodele’s research interests include biomedical instruments and computational methods and tools for rapidly design and testing rehabilitation robots. He is a previous winner of the Carnegie iLab Junior Research Fellowship, the MIT-Total Empowering the Teachers Fellowship, and the IEEE Education Society Theodore L. Batchman Outstanding paper award. He is a member of the IEEE, the Society for Neuroscience, and the International Consortium of Rehabilitation Robotics.
